1. Agreement
By accessing playislands.nz or placing an order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
2. Who may use this site
PlayIslands services are available to New Zealand residents aged 18 and over. By using the site, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. Our role
PlayIslands Ltd. is an independent bookshop selling physical books. We provide educational content, editorial reviews and curated recommendations. We are not a licensed Financial Advice Provider under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013. Nothing on this website constitutes personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
4. Products and pricing
All prices are shown in New Zealand dollars (NZD) unless stated otherwise. GST is included where applicable. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors and to limit quantities. Book availability may change without notice.
Product images are representative. Minor variations in cover design or edition may occur depending on publisher stock.
5. Orders and payment
Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase. We will send an order confirmation email when your order is accepted. We may decline orders (for example, due to stock issues, suspected fraud or delivery restrictions).
Payment is processed securely through our payment partners. You authorise us to charge the total amount shown at checkout, including applicable delivery fees.
6. Delivery
We ship to addresses within New Zealand. Delivery times and costs are described in our Shipping & returns policy. Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery to the address you provide.
7. Returns and refunds
Please refer to our Shipping & returns page for eligibility, timeframes and the returns process. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 are not excluded where they apply.
8. Intellectual property
All content on playislands.nz — including text, editorial reviews, logos and design — is owned by PlayIslands Ltd. or used with permission. You may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit our content without written consent.
9. Affiliate disclosure
We may receive a small commission when you purchase certain books through affiliate links. This never affects which titles we stock or how we review them. Affiliate relationships are disclosed where relevant.
10. User conduct
You agree not to misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, submit false information, or use automated tools to scrape content or disrupt services.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, PlayIslands Ltd. is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the site or products. Our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other mandatory New Zealand consumer protections.
12. Privacy
Your use of the site is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
